Phattening is a great multi-effect plug-in that can be used for many tasks. The essence of Phattening is to simulate the extreme decibels of the drum overheads by adding a large amount of extra warmth or crunchiness to the sound, depending on the settings chosen.
Phattening Multi-effect is an all-in-one plug-in with four distortion effects, two EQ filters and one compressor. Phattening will allow you to easily create full drum sounds, and it is perfect for live and recording. The file format is uncompressed WAV.
The four distortion effects are: Warm, Fat, Crunchy and Bite. These effects are similar in that they are applied to the whole sound, but have different settings. Warm is applied with a slight boost in the mid-range and a large boost in the high-end. Fat is a slightly cooler distortion effect with a boost in the lower ranges and an increase in the upper ranges. Crunchy is a big crunchy effect with a boost in the mid-range. Bite is an aggressive filter effect with the high-end removed completely.
The main setting used with Phattening is a mid-range boost. This will allow you to create drum sound with an extra level of warmth.
The compressed WAV file also includes a WAV, AIFF and MID file. The WAV file can be used to create a sample bank in the Audio Unit or Apple Audio Units Compressor.
Mac users can install the Phattening Multi-effect from the original CD or the updated App Store.
